Tachyon the particle that travel faster than light
Tachyons are the hypothetical particles theorized by Gerald Feinberg in a 1967 paper titled « Possibility of faster-than-light particles ». If such particles existed and could travel faster than light then it would violate special theory of relativity and causality principle giving birth to logical paradoxes like grandfather paradox.
Most of the physicists believe that their existence is not possible as they are inconsistent with the laws of physics. Till date , No experimental evidences have been found , however their existence have been predicted.
Some properties
-The rest mass, proper length and proper lifetime will be imaginary.
– It’s speed increases as energy decreases.
-Theoritically it allows to send messages in past.
-They donot accelerate to the speed of light, they only
exist if they are faster then speed of light.
