Is This What Quantum Mechanics Looks Like? : the dropplet leaves a trail behind it to mark where it’s been. the droplet can also be reversed by bouncing onto a different part of the wave (with a push or whatever) and it will actually go back over its previous path and erase it (destructive interference)
this « erasing » would have the effect of taking the entire system (silicon oil bath/our universe) and perfectly changing it to how it would be if the particle/droplet didn’t exist in this moment in time. The system would be unaware of the erasing just like we would be unaware of particles erasing themselves right now since we’re part of our system.
